Community Calm CIC in Maidenhead is celebrating two years of promoting wellbeing through innovative peer support, green social prescribing, and nature-based activities. This milestone marks a significant achievement in the organisation's mission to support mental health recovery and foster a sense of community. Since its launch in June 2024, Community Calm has been a beacon of hope for individuals facing various challenges, including isolation, anxiety, bereavement, caring responsibilities, and neurodiversity. The organisation's impact is evident in the powerful statements made by its founder and director, Meena Kalsi, who highlights the transformative effects of nature, connection, and peer support on mental health recovery. The closed-group model of Community Calm's sessions provides a safe and non-clinical environment, allowing individuals to thrive and recover from clinical care. The organisation's partnerships with NHS Social Prescribing Teams, Community Mental Health Teams, Slough CVS, and local charities have been instrumental in delivering these services. The celebration of the second anniversary included a special lunch at The White Hart in Holyport, attended by the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Councillor Sian Martin, and her husband, Tim Martin. The event also recognised the invaluable contributions of the charity's volunteers with appreciation gifts, further emphasising the community-centric approach of Community Calm. As the organisation continues to expand its services and partnerships, it is poised to make a lasting impact on the mental health and wellbeing of individuals in the local area and beyond.
