CBSE Class 12 Results 2026: Pass Percentage Drops to 85.20% (2026)

The CBSE Class 12 results for the 2026 session have been released, marking a significant shift in academic performance across India. The overall pass percentage has dropped to 85.20%, a decline of over three percentage points from the previous year's 88.39%. This decrease raises questions about the factors influencing student success and the potential impact on future educational trajectories.

One of the most striking aspects of this year's results is the gender disparity in academic achievement. Girls have once again outperformed boys, achieving a pass rate of 88.86% compared to boys' 82.13%. This gap highlights the ongoing challenge of gender inequality in education and suggests that more efforts are needed to address this issue.

The regional variations in pass percentages are also noteworthy. Thiruvananthapuram, a city in Kerala, recorded the highest pass percentage at 95.62%, while Prayagraj, a city in Uttar Pradesh, recorded the lowest at 72.43%. These disparities indicate the influence of local factors such as educational infrastructure, teacher quality, and student support systems on academic outcomes.

The compartment category, which includes students who have failed in one or more subjects but can still appear for the remaining exams, has seen an increase of nearly 2% compared to last year. This suggests that a significant number of students are struggling with their studies and may require additional support to improve their performance.

Despite the overall decline in pass percentages, a notable number of students have achieved exceptional scores. Over 94,000 students scored more than 90%, and more than 17,000 candidates scored above 95%. These high-achieving students demonstrate the potential for academic excellence and the importance of recognizing and supporting such talent.

The CBSE Class 12 results for 2026 provide a comprehensive snapshot of academic performance across India. While the overall pass percentage has dropped, the results also highlight the gender disparity in education, regional variations in academic outcomes, and the need for additional support for struggling students. These insights can inform educational policies and strategies to improve student success and address systemic challenges in the Indian education system.
